In the Silence of the Night

During the elven conference a single man crept into a night desolated imperial city. The street were barren, only a few guards walked about the streets. Larges houses stayed silent with dark windows, taverns were quiet after the early drinkers had fallen under the influence. Cloaked in black he crept through the silent roads without startling even a soul. At his side were three sheaths, blue and white all of varying length. At the gates of the imperial court the guards would turn to see him approach, calmly, coldly he came closer but non would have the time to shout. Once they began to speak he was close enough they felt his breath on their cheek, only for a second did they know before he drew the shortest of the swords and cracked it swiftly through their neck. He had killed one when another spoke but his voice only sounded disgruntled until his neck broke.

Two Vorah Faction patrolmen were making their rounds in the street nearby when they heard an unusual sound.

"What was that?"

"Shh. Keep your voice down." One of them drew a slender, curved rapier and signalled towards where the noise came from. The other one drew a light crossbow and watched his partner's back as he loaded a bolt and stood on guard. The swordsman moved closer as quietly as he could, trying to get a better view of what was happening. He might not be able to see the dead guards in the darkness yet, depending on if the unseen assassin would let them get close enough or not.

Two of Jorragar's men would also be on patrol that night making there normal rounds taking there job more seriously then the other factions in the empire in there minds until they were startled by the sudden cracking of bone's in the still of night

They would be patrolling the main road leading up to the main gate when this would be happening
Guard#2 !?! What was that!
Guard#1 shhhhhhhh " holding a finger up to his helm then would say in a whisper " stay close " would hold his mace at the ready continuing toward the source of the loud snap of bone "
Guard#2 " would ready his war hammer" following his brother

A single lower class assassin of the Talshova faction was in the area when he heard the crunching and snapping and he knew it was the tell tale sign of an assassination style killing. He would never engage someone who took out two of the imperial guards, he wasn't good enough yet, he would tail them and find out what they took and who they were. He began to move.

He entered the courtyard of the before the imperial court. The sound of footsteps behind him rang out but he did not stop to face them nor did he react to the sounds of approaching soldiers. He continued further into the courtyard, surely there were more guards here but non had noticed him. By the time he had reached the gates into the courts the other guards following may have caught up to the dead. Looking forward they would see only the figures of their own guards. Unknown to them he was behind one of them, holding him from falling to his death after covering his mouth and running his blade through his throat.

The assassin of Talshova was watching him from the rooftops, almost like he was taking notes, he didnt nothing to engage him. It would do no good to die here, more good could be done from observation and reporting back to Lord Talshova.

The guard's would reach the gate seeing the shadows of imperial guard's still standing there " Halt who goes there" moving more caution not knowing who was actually there



As the assassin would be getting further into the city toward the inner cloister of the Imperial grounds there would be many more guard's on guard there but unlike the one's on the main road these guard's would be heavily armored heavily armed and on alert for any who dare cross the thresh would need to be prepared to fight the Elite of Jorragar who were ready to face any opposition these men were known for slaughtering there opponents rather then asking questions There would be two at every gate and some on patrolling the grounds around the inner cloister

something seemed a little off about these Particular type of guard they had odd engraving's on there armor

The guards of Vorah spotted the dead guards and rushed to their aid to see if they were dead or not. They checked for pulses, and found that the guards at the front were both killed.

"Guards down! Guards down!" They shouted to try and alert the others nearby. "We need some reinforcements here!"

He remained utterly still behind the dying guard who twitched slightly as he removed the blade from his body. He carefully moved back while holding his remains until he had reached a pillar, when he had he dropped the body to the ground and ducked behind. The body fell to its knees then forward to the ground, there was no doubt that the others would notice this. This mission had not gone as planned, there were many more guards than expected. Now his only choice was to fight for what he sought in the dark, he would remain tucked behind the pillar as they approached.

The assassin finally saw that this man was going to try and hold his ground, he pulled a small crossbow out of a holster on his side and knocked a bolt, preparing to fire as he took great care to aim. Though he wasnt a fully trained assassin this particular man was an expert marksman.

the two guard's at the gate would go and investigate the noise one leaving there post to go see what had happened and the other would hold his sword at the ready for a possible ambush

The Vorah moved in quietly. They tried to consider what they were going up against - they were not particularly powerful amongst their ranks. One was simply an apprentice, and the other was an average-ranked Vorah disciple.

The disciple moved further towards the disturbance, and he gestured for his apprentice to go and alert the other guards as he saw movement inside. The apprentice, a young man, spotted the Jorragar guards moving closer and stepped out to speak. He tried to keep his voice down, but he was clearly inexperienced and nervous.

"There's...there's something going on...we've found dead bodies, dead guards...someone is in there, killing people...come help!'

The guards were so close now that the fog of their breath pasted through the air and brushed his cheek. He moved ever so slightly to slip the other direction while keeping his eyes on the guards. He crouched in effort to hide himself further, the assassin whom had him in his sights went unnoticed for now as he backed slowly from the Vorah and Jorragar guards.

The assassin took his shot, leading the target and hopefully hitting the leg of the elf, alerting the guards to the person's position.

calm down lad what are you talking about dead guards " taking a step out"

He heard the shot from afar but froze as it approached, allowing it to strike through his calve. The bolt was longed in his leg and though painful he stopped himself from making a sound. The shot may have alerted the guards in the direction of the imperial assassin rather than himself, he remained utterly still awaiting their reaction.

The man from talshova said and whispered silently "Damnit" and knocked another bolt preparing to try and alert them by shooting the ground near the assassin. He fired.

"We need help...there are dead bodies near. We need more guards here. Someone's murdering people!"

The disciple heard the 'whiff' of a bolt but couldn't locate where it was from. He kept his sword close and at the ready, and began searching for the intruder more closely.

"Taking a step back from the first bolt " WERE UNDER ATTACK!!! " running off in the direction of the bolt others looking and taking lead "sword drawn signaling the other guard in the dark to follow"

The other guard's at the other gate would head down the main road running as fast as one could in heavy armor were the assassin was laying in wait

The two patrolmen on the inside would run after the first guard out the other entrance

He moved as quickly as possible to sneak around the other guard. Slow from his wound he continued into an alley behind some nearby buildings, there he pulled his blade and cut the cloth covering his leg an examined it. He forcefully broke the head of the bolt and removed it then tied a piece of cloth around it to keep from bleeding. He backed against the wall, awaiting his chance to move, or to attack before they had the chance to call other guards.

The disciple mistook the bolt for an attack on the guards, thinking that perhaps there was more than one assailant and another had been taking aim at him. He moved back quickly, away from the unseen assassin, and took cover behind a pillar facing in the other direction while he tried to locate the source of the shot. His apprentice, meanwhile, kept trying to call out for help from the other guards.

stopping at the boy's call for help the two guard's would stop from there chase what is it lad?

The disciple came out from his cover once he felt it was safe and moved closer towards the guards. He showed them where the shot had come from up on the rooftops.

"I don't know if there's more than one, but a shot came from up there. I didn't see anyone where I was just at."

The apprentice spoke up. "But that's where the dead bodies were. Whoever it was has to still be near there!"

" banging his fist on his brothers armor " well split up show us what you are talking about and well see if there is any cause for concern the other guard would nod at the other and go there separate ways with the disciple and the other with the apprentice

Once the guards had cleared he slowly leaned around the wall to see the guards heading toward the gate, with his exit route cut off he chose to continue his mission though suffering from a severe injury. His leg bled continuously however it did not bleed heavily, he would be able to last with it bleeding for a long period of time before he passed out from bloodless. He continued through the city, alley to alley and made his way to the courts where the empire kept important documents. Cautious now he moved moderately, keeping movement down and stayed within the shadows. He pushed the tang of his kodachi up out of the sheath in case he would be discovered. Now was his only chance to seize the documents he sought.
